Black Life in Bellevue Field School Highlighted in The Talbot Spy
On July 4, 2022, the Talbot Spy interviewed the first cohort of the month-long Black Life in Bellevue Field School presented in partnership with Washington College. Eight young academics stayed in Bellevue for a month to document the town’s history, culture, and current challenges.
The Talbot Spy produced an article and video highlighting several of the students participating in the Field School.
“In talking to these young people and hearing of their academic journey before arriving on the ferry to Bellevue, it was moving to hear their collective mission to preserve the African American history of these small hamlets. It also reminded us of a new generation of American leaders dedicated to these communities and this country.”
